I was recently invited to take some photos of a rather unusual residence close to where I live by The Transmitter, our local magazine. Andy introduced me to Laura the home owner and we arranged a meet. I’d seen pictures of Laura’s place on the internet, its an underground converted Victorian WC. This obviously piqued my interest as urban decay is my thing and all UE photographers like a loo! However there was no decay to be found as the renovation had recently been completed. Despite being underground the glass skylights give a lovely lightness to the place.
The apartment has been renovated and is now fantastic. From start to finish it took around six months to complete and Laura did a lot of the work herself, very commendable in my book. She’s kept a few of the items that were left there, a couple of old mirrors and posters from the walls which is a really nice touch.
This is fantastic! Have you done, or do you plan to do any tutorials?
Thankss Bob, There’s a tutorial HERE >> http://markblundellphoto.com/ptgui-tutorial/ I should do a ‘Part Two’ around Pano2VR, however its so easy to use I dont believe it warrants it.
Provided the images line up okay, it doesn’t take that long to knock these out.
WOW, this is the flat someone was telling me about? I didn’t quite think my friend got the story right… a flat just below ground? Just beneath the cafes near the bus station?
I am really curious about it, how big is it? What does it do for ventilation? Does it have windows that open somewhere? (I gather the skylights are firmly in place, in case of pedestrians dropping by)
Incredible pics, by the way!
PS, re. the previous comment: Nobody can master techniques without practice, and from what I’ve heard you’ve practised a lot. Go on, take the credit and say your images are created with a secret technique that takes years to learn. 🙂
Hi Maria,
Yes this is the place that’s under the parade, well almost. Its quite small, but provided you dont have much ‘stuff’ large enough. the fit out is great and Laura has done a great job. ventilation wise there are windows that go out to the entrance and a small outside area as well.
I’ve no worries in sharing what I do, well almost all of it anyway, I know Bob (the previous poster) so happy to share with him. 😉
