This weekend I was invited to shoot Fury MMA at Proud O2 in London. Having not shot at or even attended an event like this before I was a little nervous and unsure of how to approach the shoot along with not knowing ‘the score’ for such a thing.

After a bit of waiting around for everything to start the action kicked off. There were around 15 fights, some of which ended quickly (Alex Montigani def. David Stone 17 seconds), others which went the whole distance and were settled by ref decision.

It was a long evening for me – on my feet concentrating for the whole time with the exception of a beer break between sessions but totally worth it. I really enjoyed myself and it was superb being so close to all the action.

I’d brought a stack of lenses along, but settled for the nifty fifty and shot the whole event with f1.8 on aperture priority. Initially using high ISO I was able to dial it down to a leisurely 400ISO and still retain a decent exposure whereby I could hold the camera still enough to capture the action.
